Latest Severe Weather Update- 1pm- Thursday 1st March 2018
Thank you for your support over arrangements today. Everyone else is free to leave from 1pm and must please be gone by 2.15pm when the school site will be closed for safety reasons.
I write now to let you know that the decision has been made not to open the school tomorrow. We expect the weather and travel conditions to be such that we cannot safely expect pupils or staff to be able to attend. The initial response I got from the students I have just spoken to suggests that they will bravely cope without coming to school tomorrow. However, for pupils who would like to keep their academics going, we will be posting some suggested work for pupils on the homepage of FROG, which can be accessed by pupils in the usual way.
You are probably already aware of the following but to avoid any doubt:
The High-Achievers trip to Oxford University is cancelled.
The music trip to Colston Hall is cancelled.
The Tennis Ambassador training has been cancelled.
The World Challenge training weekend has been cancelled.
The Duke of Edinburgh Award expedition is cancelled.
All Saturday Sports Fixtures are cancelled, including The Downs U13 Sevens Tournament.
The Colston’s Sevens: Tom Varndell Cup on Sunday is cancelled.
And there will be no Saturday Detention; they will be transferred to the 17th March.
And of course, somewhat ironically, the Parent Information Evening for the Ski Trip, scheduled for this evening, has been cancelled due to snow.
We are expecting to be open again as normal on Monday but if that changes we will contact you again. Otherwise expect a normal school week next week.
Mr. J. McCullough Headmaster

Message to Parents
In the event of severe weather every effort will be made to leave the school open to allow pupils and staff who can safely get into school to do so. It is emphasised that it is each person’s responsibility, staff or parent, to decide what is safe.
In the unlikely event of it not being possible to open, any decision to close the school due to bad weather or any other emergency will be communicated by text message and email via Clarion-Call. If particular school buses are unable to run, we will notify parents by text message and email via Clarion-Call. The school website will also be constantly updated with the latest information
