Teachers of biology have a passion for their subject and work hard to capture the imagination of their pupils. Skills are developed through experimental analysis, evaluation of evidence and problem solving.
Pupils develop an understanding of a range of biological concepts and engage in a variety of activities, including the use of technologies such as iPads and sensors to explore the ecology of our extensive and diverse school grounds.
Educational visits to @Bristol, exciting on-site practical investigation days and lectures at Bristol University inspire our pupils to learn more about the natural world.
In Years 9-11 pupils are taught by specialist teachers and study the GCSE curriculum. They explore the key principles of biology and consider the impact of technologies such as cloning and genetic screening.
Pupils are encouraged to enter national competitions, such as the Biology Challenge in Year 9.
